I’m one of those people who will get upset at the slight change of plans. If you’ve ever had a bad day I hope this story will help you get through whatever trial you are going through cause girl (or guy) you got this!
Yesterday, I played in my first soccer game of the season we ended up losing a heartbreaking 2-1 loss. it was hard not to go hard on myself even though it wasn’t truly my fault I placed the blame on myself. The majority of the game had been played on their side we had the momentum, but still our team missed multiple shots including a penalty kick and I alone missed 3 easy shots. That alone was enough to trap me alone in my thoughts (and a seemingly endless conversation with one of my best guy friends) with muscle cream and two ice packs. My first mistake was placing ice over the areas I had placed muscle cream according to the friend I was texting that causes it to speed up and believe me I felt the burn. 😛
The very next day I hit rock bottom I had made a mistake in a lab on the day it was due and had to redo it as a result. When I noticed in the morning I burst into tears I seriously had no idea what I was going to do one F and my grade would be sliced in half. As I write to you I am drinking some water and trying to keep my allergies at bay with some meds (which have yet to kick in).
As I was crying in the bathroom of my high school I remembered one of my favorite verses from the bible, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you, he will never leave nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV. Although I still physically cried in that stall mentally I was at peace. Somehow God laid on my heart the fact that he would never ever allow me to go through a situation I was ill-prepared for. He will never ever give us more than we can handle and that mere fact was enough for me to get out and continue with my day.
Somehow I’ve tricked myself into thinking that I have to live up to society’s standard of perfection when I have a Lord and savior who will take me exactly how I am. Although I still consider today one of the lowest points of my high school career I can feel happy in the fact that even though I will have bad days God will never give me more than I can handle.
With much love,
If you ever wanted to know how to do a bun on your natural hair than this is just the video for you!!
I decided it would be more beneficial for you as my viewers to have an accompanying blogpost with the video since my directions were very vague.
1. Start off by using a hair gel. In the video I used Eco Styler Professional Gel w/ Argan Oil. I used a quarter/dime sized amount for the front of my hair and then apply the same sized amount to the back of my hair.
|Guys this stuff is ultra cheap. I found it at Walmart for around $2-4 that’s a steal.|
I did not brush the areas where gel was applied for I did not want to put unneeded stress on my roots and baby hairs.
3. Now it’s time to tuck-wrap-roll (see what I did there…)
I started out my taking a piece of hair rolled and tucked it underneath the band. I tried to tuck the piece of hair in a diagonal pattern just because it looks better,
As pictured I took a small piece of hair
Now simply take the piece of hair and tuck it underneath the hair band.
Now you can stop here or….
4. Optional: Add accessories for this video I chose a lime green athletic headband. I’ve also tried it with traditional flower headbands which I have pictured.
And we’re finished!! This hairstyle is perfect for a lazy day, going to school, or even a workout.
With much love,
We loss. What should’ve been our 5th soccer game quickly became our 2nd after a few weeks of rained out games and pure cold weather . Now I’m not sure about you, but I have figured out that Alabama weather is extremely bipolar. Just this past week our weather began at high 60s just to end the Friday at a “beautiful” low 40s. Either way back to our loss. I have experience in this department playing on both the varsity and junior varsity teams last year at my old school. We loss every game with the exception of 1 when I played on the JV team and won all games with the exception of 2 when I played on the varsity. I’ve slowly learned throughout my high school career that you have to stop and smell the roses. Maybe God was preparing me last year with a season littered with losses for yet another season of losses or maybe He was giving me a chance to check my ego and become apart of a team.
This may sound like the biggest cliche but life is not always about winning…(unless you’re like me and am interested in playing at college.) This soccer season has already given me something that my last season never did.
The makings of plenty of lifelong relationships which for me being a pretty shy person is a pretty big deal. Last year my focus was on my skill and fighting for a spot on that starting lineup. I didn’t have time to become friends with the girls on my team partly because of my competitive nature. My excuse always a form of “they were way older than me…”
or “we’re fighting for the same starting position…”
This year just as our season opened I’ve learned that not only can I have friends I can be a friend. I can be a leader and mentor to girls on my team not just because of my experience in the game, but because I know there’s an all inspiring God who will never leave or forsake me.
To quote Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
If you’re anything like me February means awards shows from the Brits (my personal favorite) to the Oscars which was just last night. Unless you live under a rock that is far away from twitter or any other social media you’ve heard that Leonardo DiCaprio finally got his Oscar.
That’s right we milked the “Leonardo without an Oscar” memes for all it was worth, but all good things must come to an end. Here’s one of my personal favorites.
Incase you missed the Oscars completely Chris Rock was the host whose monologue was speckled with harmless “racist” jokes towards the all white Oscar nominees. In other news Mad Max:Fury Road won basically every award technical award from it’s must deserved Best Costume design to Best Sound Mixing. Basically I probably should’ve actually paid attention when that movie was still in theatres.
The Oscars also had featured performances by the Weeknd, Sam Smith, and Lady GaGa. My favorite being Sam Smith’s, “Writing’s on the Wall” and Lady GaGa’s heart wrenching performance of “Til it Happens to You”.
In the end I hope you recorded the 88th Academy Awards on dvr.
